IMO, that's ridiculously high. We may run 1-2% over on our highest contour fields. In today's world with GPS and guidance, there really shouldn't be much overlap or skips going down the field. Over running the ends could happen, but even 25 ft in an 800 ft run is only 3% overage.
Overapplying is not like money in the bank. N goes away if not used. Plus you can run into salt issues if really heavy.
