SW “Ohia” | I don't consider farming "work," so this might not apply to me.
Haven't had Saturdays off the "real job" since my Sophomore year of High School. Sunday is farming day. Can be aggravating if I really need a part or something because everyone is closed up. My seed salesman is very accommodating, and lets me pick up seed in the evening or the occasional Sunday if I get in a real pinch. I can usually get a friend to pick the fertilizer buggy up as the depot closes on Sundays and doesn't hang around past 4:00. Hauling grain is the real challenge, but the local elevator has Sunday hours every now and then during harvest. Just have to catch them right.
Working on Saturdays really interferes with auctions too. I take a handful off every year to attend the big local sales, but that's about it. Missed out on some killer deals because of it, but oh well. | |
