Great Lakes State | If it were me I'd be cleaning out the trash on that laptop.
It sounds like you might have apps running on boot up that don't need to be.
Remove programs that aren't being used and won't be.
Look to see if you have unnecessary tool bars etc.
Delete old files, music, pics etc that you don't need.
Clear recycle bin, run defrag.
Check to see how much free space is left, the closer to full it gets it will start slowing down.
3-4 years old isn't really out of date unless you are a power user.
There is a bunch of things that can be done that I don't have time to get into.
As to the desktop it could be several things but without more info: model, OS, type of connection it is hard to offer advice.
Personally with my heavily used comps they get reformatted and reloaded about once a year.
It's the best way to clear out the forgotten trash. | |
