I have found that on ground that was manured with in the last 12 months (high levels of P, K) No fertilizer is needed in the fall but 40# of actual N via urea applied as soil is thawing can really add to the tonnage. I planted my 5th attempt at rye after silage harvest. Plan on grazing it out at this time but do have a seed company wanting to contract the grain......not sure at this time but it was poking threw this evening.
