I'm not sure that's true. I guess it depends on what you call crap though. In eastern Iowa a kindergarten teacher makes $50,000 a year, er sorry for 180 days. Meanwhile I have a friend that has a masters degree in engineering and he works 250+ days a year and makes only a little more. However he is RESPONSIBLE to produce a product that the company can sell. He also is a manager and often gets stuck traveling on short notice, sometimes out of the country, and loses his weekends.
Reminds me of a guy working at our local elevator. I told him my future daughter in law as a college junior had a job offer of $34,000 starting pay when she graduated if she wanted it and was told it would be $40,000 in 6 months if she did good. The $8 (at that time) worker said that was nothing.
