Our problem of head scab this year was a result of uneven emergence due to cold wet fall, harsh winter, getting behind on tiller counts and applying N to increase tillering. This resulted in secondary tillers and very uneven heading and flowering. Application of Prosaro or cambra was difficult to determine when at peak flowering, there would be no more than 25 percent showing.
Man, I'm with you there. Getting something on at the right time for had scab is tough enough when you've got a uniform stand, much less when the field is at varying states of flowering. I wonder if two applications of fungicide at heading is possible, or would that put you off label? Could a guy apply half rates a couple days apart and be effective, or would you still be off label? Phil, if you're following this thread, what's your opinion? |
