5 or 6 trips over the field? What are you doing with all the passes? Around here it's two passes, first in early April-early May to topdress N, second pass at heading to apply fungicide. Yields in the 90-110 range are common, and disease generally isn't a problem.
I'm pleased your able to produce that kind of yield with two passes. Just shows how variable growing conditions are around the country. In order for me to produce 110 bu. wheat I need two trips just for N application, and another two-three for herbicide, fungicide (2), and insecticide. Here, I can't treat wheat like a "red headed stepson", I need to make as many trips across the field as it takes to make and protect a crop, and I you can't always combine applications. |
