southern MN | I put pics of my small turnip field up a while ago:

Here are some pics from today.
Briefly I plant alfalfa, clover, and turnips with oats, swath and combine the oats, bale the straw, let this all regrow again, and let the cattle graze it along with cornstalks as soon as I combine off the field of corn next to it.
The turnips grew real well this year. They are very similar to tillage radish, but make a bulb on the surface easy for the cattle to eat.
The pics where you can see a ridge of turnips is a 50+ years old concrete tile line trenched in. Really shows up. Nearby are 4 inch lines knifed in a few years ago, those don't show up.
Could hardly see the alfalfa or clover this year, but now it is showing up the past week. We got a frost that killed beans and corn and even pigweed in the low lost week, these plants kept growing.
Some of the bigger turnips are where I had fed hay bales last year, the decaying old hay and manure from the circle made for bigger turnips, as they scavage the nutrients. Often times the biggest turnips are next to the corn field, as they get the heavy N overlap.
