NW Iowa | If you've got the time and man power to keep it running it's a very good addition to a farming operation. If you think it will interfere with harvest too much or in a late harvest year (2009) you'll run out of time to get it hauled, you better keep having it hired done.
I have my crops custom combined and focus more on manure hauling. I'm usually short handed on labor so manure hauling made more sense to me because that can be a 1 man show most of the time. If you really enjoy it, it's not too tough to get into the custom business as well.
