I use a concept of master and published files. I work on the file in the master (or work location) and then copy it to a published location for use by others (or other devices). It's a manual step though and probably similar to what you are doing now.

Using Dropbox, OneDrive (Microsoft), Google Drive, etc you can save to your local drive into a watched folder. The utility automatically syncs it with your shared location. This is probably the simplest method, but I haven't played with settings to protect the file from changes by other devices though.
