| I read on here about the low corn prices in the western corn belt and it has me thinking. I am in an area with good corn basis due to the many ethanol plants nearby, local corn currently +10, new crop bids for fall at -25. Why not have my cattle custom fed further west and sell my corn locally? The cattle are sourced from the west, contracted for delivery in the next 60 days, I could cut the freight bill in half. I am assuming the cost of gain would be significantly less. Does anyone know of a directory of custom feedlots in the Dakotas or Minnesota that I could contact to place cattle into? Thanks in advance. | |
