| If its a common thread, take it out, weld up the damaged area then turn it down to the correct size. Anyone with a lathe can do this. Then if you have a good guy on the lathe have them cut threads in the area that was welded. Threads are cut every day on a lathe. Also you could have it welded up and turned, the cut threads yourself with a tap and die set. Wouldn't hurt to chase the threads with a die anyway, and with a little elbow grease you will have a crank that's as good as new. Shouldnt cost too much to have done at a small machine shop. | |
