I got a neighbor who runs a 16 row stack fold planter with a 4955 JD..  (could be a 60 series..??)  He's got it set up on auto steer the whole 9 yards..  Says he doesn't like all the computer junk on the new ones..  Which if you've ever looked for a short... lol.

Anywho.. he's been across something like 34,000 acres with the set up..Does a fair amount of custom work with it.. something on the order of 275'ish pivots..

Just because something is old.. doesn't mean it can't get the job done.

He's got it all tuned up.. does an excellent job of maintenance.. etc.. and really does a nice job. 

just needs a little more chrome.. ;-)
