Chebanse, IL..... | Seems like it was probably our WC Allis (1936) w/no electrical what-so-ever. Also no hydraulics. Probably first job was hauling corn wagons from the pickers to the crib elevator. That '36 WC is still in our shed. But, about the same time, there was baling to do w/IH M w/no live anything pulling an IHC 55T. But, about that same time was also driving the hay rope tractor. That was mostly the neighbor's WD Allis. We were in a baling ring together. That was probably all within 2 seasons. Then started the tillage work w/the M & rotary hoeing w/the M & cultivating w/the 720 & plowing w/the M or 720 and......I don't know, never really thought about those sequence of events. I am absolutely sure I started w/a hand crank tractor before I got to move up to an "electic start" tractor. Hand cranks were OK until you killed it or until it got dark. No lights either. |
