Yorkshire UK | Without installing anything I have mine (on 8.1) booting to old style desktop, and the new start menu I don't really mind - it is only a different way of presenting the pop-up list. Once you have your most used stuff on there without scrolling, and delete all the other junk they like to put, on it's not a problem.
I don't like a desktop crowded with icons anyway. I keep them hidden so all you see is a nice background picture. I have the desktop set as a toolbar which pops up a list when you hover on it bottom right. I have my two most used folders also set as toolbars. This is a much smarter way of working in any case as you don't have to minimise or close windows just to see the desktop and shortcuts. |
