Alberta, Canada | Yes at first maytag/whirpool only serviced this issue by selling the whole drum for 250-300 bucks. Now you can by a bearing kit for 60 bucks plus shipping online.
I asked the wife if I should fix it myself as its a shame to junk it being that the the thing is like new. But she says NO, never liked it from day one. She says she always has to run it on the heavy duty/ max extract type cylce which takes over an hr a load and still stuff doesn't come as clean as it did with the "old school" 1990 model maytag she had. Maybe the front load HE models work better. I don't think this Maytag Top load HE model was designed for a a farm family of 5 that has lots of dirty clothes. I think I'll look into more when I have time and fix it if its just bearings. Maybe I can sell it or use it for something.
