central sask
We did as much research as we could before buying washer/dryers for our new house.
Maytag is absolute junk from what I have seen from those around here and reading online.
LG and Frigidaire were the two that seemed to have the least trouble.
We got 2 sets of Frigidaire front loaders, washer model# FAFS4474LWO, Dryer# FAQE7072LWO
Almost half the cost of LG or Maytag.
Menards 11% sale AND caught the last day of a 7% appliance sale as well so that helped.

They were the largest models offered at the time (US version, the Canadian equivalents are/were smaller)
I don't think they have as many of the fancy options like steam etc.
Been using them almost 2 years and no trouble yet.
No smell as heard about front loaders but we leave the washer door open most of the time.
The washer easily handles 3 pair of DIRTY carhart bibs, a couple light jackets/hoodies a few other pairs of pants etc and gets them as clean or better than the old top loader.
Will handle full loads of bedding or towels with ease but both washer and dryer have trouble with a heavy/puffy king size comforter so it goes to the Laundromat .

Our 15 year old whirlpool/Kenmore was still working like new (us and 4 kids) and it might get put in our garage for work clothes/shop rags etc yet.
It would not handle heavy stuff like a load of carharts or towels without having to stop it and balance the load a couple times or it would shake itself across the floor and shut down.
