Owensville, MO | Neighbor and I have a plot in some really good creek bottom ground between our houses. 12 varieties in there one of which is Reed's yellow dent open pollinated. replicated 3 times across the field so should get some usable data. The reed's has looked good all year but is now showing signs of disease and weak stalks. It was planted at 28,000 just like all the rest and it is very evident now that was a mistake. i don't think much of it will be standing by harvest in about 3 weeks. Ears are mostly 12x 40 or so with the biggest kernals I've ever seen. Not sure what to expect out of it.
