A very interesting read, got me thinking. Definitely agree that it hard to raise up your own replacements in a smaller herd, keeping cows of different breeds on separate farms with different bulls. I bought some crossbred replacements for the first time last winter. I have used a crossbred bull before, but only 1 that I raised up myself, just to use on some heifers. I didn't want to spend big $ just to breed a few heifers. I may have to give hybrid bulls another look.
