I'll be a bit of a contrarian here...  By looking at the pictures, it isn't as bad as you think it will be.  We have had bad down corn something like 6 of the last 12 harvests.  3 of those it was 100%, 3 just a field here and there.  It becomes second nature by the end of day 1 or 2.  We have run both with the feelers and just straight track with the feelers shut off.  Whatever works is what you need to do.  If you have to shift over 15 inches or whatever because that is where the ears are, just do it.  Lifting every stalk up isn't always necessary and there is a much bigger chance of ears shaking off.  We have tried taking the one row less thing and the only difference it made was getting done 1/8 slower, just didn't see an advantage.  All this said, every situation is different and I am not discounting anyone's experiences.  Just be ready when it hits 28% or so and roll.  Wouldn't hurt to have a reel handy, but I don't think you will need it.  Good luck and stay safe.  Ben
