Subject: Pasture corn stalks

Southwest Missouri
We just picked 15 acres near the house. It has been very dry. I have been putting out hay for 30 heifers.

I could open a gate and let the heifers graze. Or, I could let 50 cows graze.

I understand many people graze stalks. What are the dangers? Nitrate issues or anything else? I hate to kill some animals because I am ignorant of some danger. It would be nice to get some grazing from the field but we have plenty of hay. The grazing is not necessary, would be nice.
