Subject: Fermintation time

Wellington, MO
So after many years of feeding corn silage I hate to ask this but never had silage left over at time of chopping. We will probably chop our corn silage next week. I still have silage left from last fall that we are feeding on. I don't really want to take the silage out of the ration just to work it back in in a couple weeks. So first question, how long do I need to wait (or do I need to wait) to start feeding the new silage? I can remember my dad having silage left over and just piling the new against the old but he was not currently feeding any at the time of chopping and we would wait till october to start feeding silage to the weaned calves. Second question, what about wheatlage or oatlage, do they need to wait for ferminatation before feeding? Thanks in advance for the advice, Craig
