| Totally agree with what you said, it's just impossible for someone to tell someone else 1000 miles away when and how they should be doing it. Some guys have a class 7 combine with a 12 row corn head and a fleet of trucks and carts for 500 acres. Neighbor might have a class 6 combine on a 6 row and 1 grain truck he runs himself for 2000 acres. No way they should start at the same time, but if it's like around here the smaller guy will jump the gun most times. Not always but quite often anymore. We normally start corn harvest 23-24% range, works for us. Drying is a major expense anymore, I can't imagine why some refuse to invest in on farm drying and storage. Just like tile, pay me now or pay me later but you will pay. | |
