| On the flip side, I'm guessing a lot of people in the really good areas will have one or two hybrids that are a little bit off the pace. Not saying they will be bad corn- just maybe won't be optimized for this growing season. The rockstar performing genetics for a cool, wet summer are probably not going to be the best corn to plant the other 80% of the time.
Obviously, this is not a huge factor in the big scheme of things. Just a statement that most of us plant a package of varieties to manage risk from a wide variety of weather conditions, and not all of them can be the winner in any specific circumstance. |
