Subject: RE: Kansas record is 155 average

eastern south central KS
I'm about 40 mi. NE of Wichita and maybe 25% of corn is cut here. Yes, some pretty big numbers being floated.. maybe equal to 09 but I don't really think it's better either. Yields locally that I have heard run from 120 to 160 with a 175 once in a while on some outstanding field. Rains very scattered in my immediate area but in general we were fairly dry from July 15 on thru August and that hurts the top end potential some. Beans are really hurting in my local area, some permanent damage already... doublecrop is in bloom stage and a big rain could really help them. The thing I have really noticed this summer is that besides being cooler than normal we have had a lot of days with fairly light winds... darn unusual for Kansas.
