I read something somewhere that over half of the mass of a human body is made up of non-human materials, ie bacteria, fungi, all sorts of things. Now I'll have to do some research!
I looked it up and I was mistaken. Althought bacterial cells outnumber human cells in our bodies 10-1, they are much smaller, comprising 2-3% of the total body mass.
