Blackstock, Ont
Our church and other community fundraisers often have talent auctions. You could be bidding on a garden tea party donated by one, 25 lbs of beef, babysitting, dinners, cottage rentals, painting, face decorating, tractor washing and or storage, firewood, quilts, homemade jellies, jams, pies......or as my father in law Harvey does, local agricultural tours or local history tours. Gramps rents a school bus and all who go have a wonderful time. Think he has been doing one or the other for the last six or seven years and they are all well attended. One local woman has donated a german dinner for eight, cooked in your home for the last five years or so. I have had to stop bidding at $1000. It generally goes much higher. Another womans butter tarts generally average about $15 a piece!! All love to donate something many of the youngsters in the community delight in donating baked goods they made or chicken they raised. The possibilities of what you could have in the auction are endless. You could combine the talent auction with a silent auction from items donated by local businesses or just do the 2nd auction on its own. The talent auctions are always something to look forward to and you just never know what you may end up with. Great moneymaker for the Church and great evening and lots of laughs for all those who attend too
