West of Broken Bow | Didn't want to hijack the thread below about wasps. I've battled wasps before on tractors that have sat for a while outside during the spring and summer. I lost count of how many nests were on one. Ran out of wasp spray and ended up using gasoline in a squirt bottle. Was having to repair the tractor and it ended up being harder due to so many red wasps and several other types.
Here's my question: how would you go about dealing with hundreds of wasp nests on two or three acres of tractors? I plan on buying a collection of antique tractors and need a better plan of action. The Copperhead snakes are bad enough to worry about, but there are wasps everywhere you can imagine on these tractors.
One time I couldn't locate all the nests on one piece of equipment so I used a backpack blower and just blew all the wasps off. Everytime they tried to come back I just hit them with a high volume of air.
I suppose I could wait until a cooler time of year, but that may not be an option.
