Subject: Machinery Link & sales tax

Watford City, ND
I'm renting a combine for this years harvest - I just got the bill for the first payment, which I had sent off a few days ago, and on the bill it's showing 4% ND sales tax.

Is this a lease or rent? It's a one year 'deal' and per other leases I've done, there was a purchase price, residual, and a slew of other differences vs what I got going on with MachineryLink.

Anyone send in a form to get sales tax exempt?

Opinions on whether or not sales tax applies?

Another 'twist' would be that this is not a new machine, as it's been bought once (from dealer to ML) and so it would be considered used, and in ND there is no sales tax on used equipment.
