wiring and lights can be a real PITA, brake lights and turn signals are the same circuit your problem could be any thing from circuit breakers to something wrong in the steering column I had a n old ford that had turn signals but no brake lights and it had a bad turn signal switch. a testlight and time will tell I would start with groundwires first
