The plant growth is what ends up giving you yield. Vines hold pods. Planting early does require managing disease but fungicide on the seed help with plant health. Also a beam plant only produces enough nitrogen per acre for 50-65 bu/ac to topple over the higher yields you have to have to supplement. Another way to manage the tall beans is to thin the population. We plant 110,000 in 15" rows. We also put generic capture in furrow to prevent any insect damage. In our irrigated ground with this system we have hit 86 avg and non irrigated 62 in the drought 2 years ago.
