Central Iowa | That sounds like us grain farmers. For years we sold at the cost of production or for a slight profit. Covering more and more acres to make a decent living. Then BOOM hit the 7 and 8 dollar corn. We were all making a ton of money. Some got the attitude that it was here to stay and this was just how it was going to be. Fast forward a couple years and here we are.... back at or below the cost of production. It seems its possible cattle are going through a similar phase now and some people are thinking its going to last forever. I don't know if its here to stay or not but I remember a lot of guys saying $7 corn was the new norm in corn....... | |
