WCIN | I pick up about 6 tons a week. Feed guy ran a sample and said it was a lot like silage and valued it at around $40/ton. I figure I've got $140 in a trip to get it including labor, fuel, etc, so I'm about $100/week ahead on that. Not much, and barely worth it. By the time you figure in the extra work of feeding it, I doubt I am breaking even right now, but the brewery is expanding and I should be bringing more home soon. Maybe when you figure in the extra feed it saves me it might be a little better than break even, but I need to figure that out.
Right now I feed a little to feeders, but the majority goes to the cows who go absolutely nuts over it to the point of it being almost dangerous.
