In a perfect situation, you should buy some bred 4 year old experienced but young cows and just build from there. But I see where in graintraders situation it might be better to try and feed a load. There have been a lot of calves fed over the winter on the corn from the farm. What is your land situation? You can run your corn through some calves on a lot smaller plot of ground than what it takes for cow/calf.

That said, I am keeping my cow herd.
