North of London | Daughter has puppies in the basement so she sleeps down there, just in case.
She woke to go to work this am, a little late, and noticed the sound of water in the old part of the house basement.
Had fair amount of rain last night but this was coming through the floor.
Checked kitchen above and it was coming through the ceiling there too.
Pipe under toilet upstairs was leaking.
So at 5:15 am she says dad we have a leak and I have to go.
went to turn shutoff under toilet OFF and the pipe broke completely giving me a good wetting to my shoulders.
Next shutoff...........where is it?
None, none, none.
By now I am in the basement by the water inlet pipe and nothing so shut power to pump off.
I installed the plumbing and this toilet, washroom etc was done over 40 years ago and the shutoff has not been used often but no other shutoffs that would kill the water, I could not believe it since I have been accused of putting too many shutoffs in.
Son in law was off work today and was coming out to help so we mopped until 7:30 and then asked him to bring a new flex pipe for the bottom of the toilet.
He arrived about 9:15 and we had water again by 9:30.
At least water where it was supposed to be.
May need to remodel the kitchen but a number of cupboards got cleaned out.
Good thing it was a wet day. | |
