. | Contact local bank/ag lenders in the area. They should be able to recommend a reputable appraiser that they use. Certified and licensed appraisers have to take classes, have an apprenticeship, and pass tests in order to get their license, and later stepping up to certification. All FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, etc must have a licensed/certified appraisers complete lending transactions. I'm not saying that someone who doesn't have an appraisal license doesn't know land values, but there are multiple rules and standards that licensed appraisers must follow. | |
