Subject: Estates - Farmland appraisals - Illinois

Earlier thread about estate planning triggered this question. Seems there is a lot of experience with farm estate planning in this forum.

Who do you get to do estate farmland appraisals in Illinois?
The situation is: Estate executor got local auctioneer to do the estate appraisal. Grandfather auctioneer and not real estate license or appraiser license.

Now finding that Illinois has law (Illinois Statutes) about "certified real estate appraiser" is only professional legally for appraisals. Legally it appears Executor should have hired certified real estate appraiser.

Anyone have any information or experience about how similar situations? Reappraisal and refile estate tax return?

How many other states have must use "certified real estate appraisers."

Yes, local lawyer set up the estate!

Thanks for your comments
