North of London
Don't know if we ever used a kant hook but I have used the banjo and spoon.
Mostly we were tearing out old telephone wires and poles but on occasion had to replace a pole on a line where underground had not gone in yet.

Thing is we had an auger on the truck but it went up on a cable system from on top to out front of truck and then had to be hooked up so boss thought it was easier and quicker to do it by hand if there was only one hole needed at that location.
Easier for him as he did not use those things any more.

And I do not know what the original picture is of.
Waiting expectantly to find out.
Think I may have seen something like that around here at some time in the past but no knowledge of what it was used for.
