Wow. That soil had no need for gypsum.  I have no clue why they made that rec.  They wasted your $ and made it worse.   

It is muck or a old lake bed.   Good soils if managed correctly and can yield really well. 

It needs a lot potash and some AMS .   Spend your money on potash.
