mascoutah, IL | Agree completely Bob. One or two weeks ago I stilled believed we could average 225+ on our dark ground which would easily be a record. Maybe some 250 fields. Corn started to deteriorate this week. Still could be 200+ with rain this evening but without it were going to shave a little more off. Noticed corn on marginal ground is starting to fire. We only have one farm on poor dirt and the corn looked pretty good on Monday. By today it is fired about 2 ft up the stalk. Don't have high hopes for that. We've had a few showers this summer but almost all were under a half inch. On a positive note at least we have had below normal temperatures for the summer. | |
