Subject: RE: Foliar feeding hay?

Central Alberta
Foliar has its place but timing is everything. It is not a complete fertilizer package but can greatly increase yields. It works excellent on a cold spring to give the plants a boost. Also excellent right after every cutting as soon as things green up again. With about 6-8 inches of new growth or what every to get the ground green again. If more than this it won't do as much. People complain foliar does not work but again timing is everything. If you wait too long better off not putting it on at all.

On the trails I did, If applied early it doubled the hay yield. If applied when the plants were bigger no real response. Also if applied earlier its like the plants gains 10days to 2 weeks of growth with out a decline in feed value(got feed tests to prove it) So higher yield with out loss of quality, whats not to like. BUT TIMING IS EVERYTHING. Its not the have all and end all but is part of a complete fertilizer program.
