ISSUE:
Legislation that was introduced last February by Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) was referred to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and has narrowly passed out of committee. It is expected that a vote on this anti-RFS legislation could occur on the floor of the full House of Representatives as early as Tuesday, July 29.
HR 875 amends the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to mandate a blending requirement for 2014 and 2015. Additionally, it intervenes in the regulatory approval process for transportation fuels by adding additional testing/study requirements for E15—a fuel that is already approved for use in any car or light truck model year 2001 or later. This fuel has undergone more testing than any other fuel in the marketplace—without any evidence of engine damage after 50 million miles have been driven.
THIS IS SERIOUS & NCGA urges all members to call their Congressmen asking for them to VOTE AGAINST HR875. Find your Representative by plugging in your zip code at http://capwiz.com/ncga/home/
