At least if you are a farm manger.

We have a man who has a pivot the wipes back and forth on an 80 acre farm.  It needs to stop at a dirt road after each pass each way.  When it gets to the south end and needs to stop, but does not always do so.  He only relies on the stop or reverse switch at the center point on a Reinke.  Twice this year it has not stopped.  It would not be so bad, but when it does not stop it goes across the road and could run into a neighbors pivot.  What it does do is cross the road and then the last tower runs up against a electric power post that was cut off appox. 3 ft above the ground.  Why is this post still there?  Because the power company took out this post to put in metal post for a high power line to run 2 miles south to a mfg. plant.  If this pivot would not hit this remaining stump post left by the power company the pivot would then hit the brace cables on this large high capacity power line running to the mfg. plant.  Wow.  I can not believe he does not put in a physical stop on his own property to keep this from happening.  He has farmed this place for appox. 20 years, so it is not like he has not had the time to put in physical stops of his own.

Dad always said that if you can't manage what you have don't be looking for more ground.
