Subject: Sunflower help

Kansas
I just picked up some new ground that had just been hayed. Would like to get it into a crop rotation. It is getting late for soybeans and would like to try some sunflowers. Found a market around 70 miles away but no one grows them anymore around here so trying to figure out the logostics. Was planning on burning down the grass with RUP and then plant the sunflowers. Probably won't have time to get a soil test back since that takes a few weeks.

Will sunflowers grow good in new break ground?
What type of ferilizer and population should I shot for?
Any other suggestions.
