Export Sales Highlights

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period July 11-17, 2014.

Wheat: Net sales of 443,200 MT for delivery in the 2014/2015 marketing year were primarily for Japan (92,800 MT), Nigeria (71,300 MT), Singapore (53,500 MT, including 25,700 MT switched from unknown destinations and 5,500 MT switched from Vietnam), Brazil (47,300 MT, including 6,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), Vietnam (40,300 MT, including 35,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Mexico (36,900 MT). Decreases were reported for the Philippines (45,000 MT), unknown destinations (30,100 MT) and Panama (7,000 MT). Exports of 551,700 MT were primarily to Brazil (191,900 MT), Indonesia (49,700 MT), Taiwan (41,700 MT), Mexico (41,200 MT), Japan (37,300 MT), and Singapore (33,500 MT).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2014/2015, outstanding optional origin sales total 40,000 MT, all Algeria. Decreases

Exports for Own Account: For 2014/2015, exports for own account balance is 16,400 MT, all Italy.

Corn: Net sales of 291,500 MT for 2013/2014 were down 49 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (216,200 MT, including 112,300 MT switched from unknown destinations, 50,000 MT switched from China, and decreases of 1,100 MT), Spain (70,000 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), South Korea (67,800 MT, including 63,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,400 MT), the Netherlands (52,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (50,200 MT), and Canada (25,600 MT). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (220,100 MT) and China (50,000 MT). Net sales of 1,143,400 MT for 2014/2015 were reported primarily for unknown destinations (644,000 MT), Japan (268,400 MT), and Costa Rica (43,800 MT). Exports of 992,500 MT were up 9 percent from the previous week, but down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (262,100 MT), South Korea (255,800 MT), Mexico (139,500 MT), Egypt (133,200 MT), Spain (70,000 MT), and Costa Rica (32,600 MT).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2013/2014, outstanding optional origin sales total 55,000 MT, all South Korea.

Barley: There were no net sales or exports reported during the week.

Sorghum: Net sales of 106,100 MT for 2013/2014 resulted as increases for China (167,100 MT, including 58,000 MT switched from Germany and decreases of 900 MT) and Japan (2,200 MT, including 1,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for Germany (58,000 MT) and unknown destinations (5,100 MT). Net sales of 52,100 MT for 2014/2015 resulted as increases for China (108,000 MT) and unknown destinations (3,600 MT). Decreases were reported for Germany (58,000 MT) and Singapore (1,500 MT). Exports of 169,400 MT were reported to China (167,200 MT) and Japan (2,200 MT).

Rice: Net sales of 8,200 MT for 2013/2014 were down 82 percent from the previous week and 80 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Costa Rica (5,000 MT), Colombia (4,900 MT), Canada (1,300 MT), Australia (300 MT), and Mexico (200 MT). Decreases were reported for Turkey (5,300 MT) and Haiti (1,100 MT). Net sales of 60,900 MT for 2014/2015 were reported for Mexico (30,000 MT), Turkey (26,300 MT), Honduras (2,600 MT), and El Salvador (2,000 MT). Exports of 39,000 MT were down 42 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (13,200 MT), Colombia (10,900 MT), Haiti (8,600 MT),Canada (2,400 MT), and Mexico (900 MT).

Soybeans: Net sales of 226,700 MT for 2013/2014 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (158,800 MT)Indonesia (103,600 MT, including 86,400 MT switched from unknown destinations), Vietnam (17,900 MT), Taiwan (12,400 MT), and Japan (10,300 MT, including 1,000 MT switched from unknown destinations). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (87,400 MT) and Mexico (8,500 MT). Net sales of 2,451,100 MT for 2014/2015 were primarily for China (1,283,500 MT), unknown destinations (949,600 MT), and Bangladesh (112,000 MT). Exports of 162,700 MT were up 72 percent from the previous week and 59 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Indonesia (95,300 MT), Japan (32,000 MT), and Mexico (29,900 MT).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2013/2014, outstanding optional origin sales total 110,500 MT, all China. For 2014/2015, outstanding optional origin sales total 832,000 MT, and are for China (667,000 MT), Egypt (120,000 MT), and Mexico (45,000 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 93,900 MT for 2013/2014 were up 12 percent from the previous week and 33 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (26,200 MT), Honduras (12,400 MT, including 9,200 MT switched from unknown destinations), Canada (10,200 MT), the Dominican Republic (8,600 MT), unknown destinations (7,300 MT), and Japan (6,300 MT, including 3,000 MT switched from unknown destinations). Net sales of 348,900 MT for 2014/2015 were reported primarily for unknown destinations (232,600 MT), Egypt (27,000 MT), and Honduras (20,000 MT). Exports of 98,400 MT were down 42 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (32,400 MT), Canada (17,500 MT), the Dominican Republic (15,600 MT), Honduras (10,100 MT), and Jamaica (5,000 MT).

Soybean Oil: Net sales of 2,900 MT for 2013/2014 were down 65 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (2,100 MT), Nicaragua (600 MT), and Australia (200 MT). Exports of 41,800 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (40,000 MT), Mexico (1,100 MT), and Nicaragua (600 MT).

Cotton: Net Upland sales reductions of 1,900 RB for 2013/2014 marketing year resulted as increases for China (6,500 RB, including, 900 RB switched from Thailand and 400 RB switched from South Korea), Taiwan (2,300 RB), Indonesia (1,200 RB), Thailand (1,000 RB), Mexico (1,000 RB), and Morocco (500 RB). Decreases were reported for Turkey (12,800 RB) and Japan (1,900 RB). Net sales of 371,400 RB for 2014/2015 were reported primarily for Turkey (172,000 RB), Vietnam (38,200 RB), China (30,900 RB), and Malaysia (26,400 RB). Exports of 72,000 RB were down 12 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (15,800 RB), China (10,400 RB), Turkey (10,200 RB), Indonesia (5,300 RB), and Vietnam (4,900 RB). Net American Pima sales of 2,700 RB for 2013/2014 were up noticeably from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were for India (2,600 RB) and Thailand (500 RB), were partially offset by decreases for Japan (300 RB). Net sales of 1,000 RB for 2014/2015 were for Egypt (700 RB) and Japan (300 RB). Exports of 1,200 RB--a marketing-year low--were primarily to India (300 RB), Thailand (300 RB), Egypt (300 RB), and Indonesia (200 RB).

Optional Origin Sales: For 2013/2014, outstanding optional origin sales total 16,200 RB, and are for Thailand (11,300 RB), South Korea (4,600 RB), and Vietnam (300 RB).

Exports for Own Account: The current exports for own account balance is 57,400 RB, all China.

Hides and Skins: Net sales of 422,800 pieces were reported for delivery in 2014, up 3 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides sales of 400,800 pieces were primarily for China (222,800 pieces), South Korea (119,300 pieces), Taiwan (30,300 pieces), and Mexico (12,500 pieces). Exports of 384,300 pieces were up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports of 381,500 pieces were primarily to China (203,200 pieces), South Korea (94,500 pieces), Mexico (27,500 pieces), Taiwan (23,400 pieces), and Thailand (10,300 pieces).

Net sales of 79,800 wet blues for 2014 were reported for China (41,300 unsplit and 3,500 grain splits), Vietnam (17,300 unsplit), South Korea (6,700 grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (3,900 grain splits and 800 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Hong Kong (4,800 unsplit), India (900 unsplit), South Korea (300 unsplit), Japan (200 unsplit), and Vietnam (200 grain splits). Exports of 147,500 wet blues were primarily to Vietnam (35,500 unsplit and 2,400 grain splits), China (25,200 unsplit and 12,600 grain splits), Mexico (13,500 unsplit and 8,500 grain splits), and Italy (16,400 unsplit and 3,600 grain splits). Net sales of splits totaling 137,000 pounds for 2014 resulted as increases for South Korea (144,400 pounds) and Hong Kong (2,700 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for China (8,500 pounds) and Vietnam (1,600 pounds). Exports of 701,800 pounds were reported to South Korea (280,800 pounds), Hong Kong (206,800 pounds), Vietnam (126,600 pounds), and China (87,500 pounds).

Beef: Net sales of 10,800 MT for 2014 were up 20 percent from the previous week, but down 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (3,100 MT), Mexico (2,600 MT), Canada (1,800 MT), South Korea (1,500 MT), and Hong Kong (600 MT). Exports of 14,600 MT were up 29 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (4,800 MT), South Korea (2,300 MT), Mexico (2,100 MT), Hong Kong (1,800 MT), and Canada (1,600 MT).

Pork: Net sales of 4,300 MT for 2014 were up 26 percent from the previous week, but down 59 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (1,400 MT), Mexico (600 MT), South Korea (600 MT), Hong Kong (500 MT), and China (200 MT). Decreases were reported for Canada (100 MT). Exports of 10,100 MT were up 47 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (3,200 MT), Japan (1,500 MT), Canada (1,100 MT), the Philippines (700 MT), and Hong Kong (600 MT).
