High Springs, Florida | Good deal! Sadly, down here in this part of Florida, sweet corn does not seem to be very popular. I think the main reason is because most of the growers down here do not handle it properly, and it tastes horrible, as a result. I do not see any indication that ANY of it is pre-cooled after harvest. Pickup trucks with bed extensions filled to the top, no cover, driving down the road in 90 degree heat. I'll bet the center of the pile is 130* and the sugar has all turned to starch. |
