Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

Due to all the spring water we have received the last few years, we have found that we often cannot get in timely for weed control.

The best control has happened when we have disturbed the ground, warmed the soil, and have thus caused weed germination earlier.

Where we have gotten 3-4 flushes prior to planting, and killed them by field cult, Phoenix.......and lastly disk if necessary.........all staying within 1-3 inches deep.............our fields after planting have been cleaner..........thereby allowing us to better accommodate the following weather windows we have had to put up with.

I have tried the routine of planting into cut, standing rye, or rolling everything under just prior to planting..........weed flushes after planting have seemed to be heavier..........and resultantly harder to handle given the short weather windows.

If a window is missed.........lots easier to recover if the weeds at that point are less dense as to population.
