I think it would definitely be interesting to see if it were a true insurance program. Prices might go up in the short run due to past insurance history, but it think would eventually come down due to the fact that the private sector would never allow the corruption that is currently in crop insurance. I really think that a true crop insurance could work, you would just have to have adjusters working full time checking the crop periodically to ground truth the fields they are insuring. This whole deal where the first time an adjuster sees a field is when a yield claim is turned in is a dang joke... Period. Way too much room for cheating the system IMHO.

Most folks would never try half of the stuff with their regular adjusters that they pull off with crop insurance. Just sayin.
