I find this post very interesting and true. It's amazing how all people think farmers get handouts from the govt. While most of them are on some sort of program themselves. At least the ones that complain. I've never looked at it as welfare. But crop ins or farmers are prob. One of the very few that have to pay a premium every year to use crop ins in bad years but take a bad rap when we do. I work in town and farm on the side n drives me crazy when I here all the time about how the govt bails out farmers with crop ins. Interesting post At least got me thinking
I farm and work in town too... but I have always considered us (farmers) extremely lucky... what other industry has a "Gross Income" insurance? Nothing I can think of... we really are fortunate. I would like to see it privatized tho and scammers thrown in jail... that's what's ruining modern farming. |
