Case IH farmer - 7/22/2014 23:33  I also won't plant seed just because it is "cheap". You can plant something thats free and if it loses by 30 bpa it costs you more than $300 a bag corn.

Either your planting population is on the thin side or your cash corn bid is a bunch higher than ours.

2.5 acres/bag x 30 bpa = 75 bu/bag

$300/75 = $4

Local cash bid is $3.27
$3.19 for new crop

I've got a 4.80 average sold up to my insurance guarantee this year. And fall corn here is 3.45 and jan is 3.63. Why assume nothing is sold? Even with my extra bushels I will end up with an average well over $4.

30bpa.x$4.40=$132x2.3=$303 per bag.

Surely all of you aren't sitting with no forward sales or puts? 2-3 months ago you could have forward contracted corn for $4.50-4.85. Go back even further and you could have got $5.
